Rally wheel center color

If I'm reading this correctly it states that all 65-66 wheels are the same. This is incorrect. The 65 and very earlie 66 wheels were Argent color and around about March 66 the change over to Satin black was made.Am I missing something here?       Tom

Good question, I can remember the 65 & 66 as the silver-grey color, also the big Buicks as the same. I know the magnum 500 wheels from Motor wheel were black. Anyone else have any info?

Did you ever get a chance to try the Steven Dove Buick Service Bulletin paint formula for the 65 Buick chrome wheel centers?

If so what did you think?

I'm assuming this is the gray/silver formula.

My copy of this book is ISBN No. 09621059-1-0 and the Acknowledgements page is dated 3-14-89.

Do you have any idea where this copy would fit in versions?

Might see if tower paints can mix that in a can for a tester.  Before buying any quarts.

Good suggestion.

Unfortunately my last original wheels went with the sale of my last 65 GS several years ago.

When I get to this point in my new project I will seek out a wheel to compare.

Who knows I may even be lucky enough to find a set.

I  faxed that formula over to Tower Paints . Chris their "old car expert" called me back. She said GM has two argent wheel colors. One lighter and one darker. She is going to check on it and call me back.
