Jay from Minnesota
« on: April 07, 2010, 08:33:43 AM »
Hey Guy,

Glad to be part of this group, I have a 65 GS convert 4-speed, which I have been restoring for the 4 years.
I had my first experience with a GS in High School when my buddy went to college and told me to sell his car, for some reason that took a long time, probably because a drove it some much it was never in one spot long enough to see.
I bought this GS in 93 just to drive and do burnouts, it wasn't until I had the car for a while I realized how rare it was.
The car came with a 63 nail head when I bought it but soon the block had a crack in it, the car had a muncie 4 speed, but also came with a BW T-10.
I put a 455 in it and drove it that way until I started the restoration, I am planning on putting in the correct year LR and the T-10 back in later.

Looking foreward to talking to you guys

Jay

Welcome to the Board, Jay,

This is Kurt from California, way out west. I still play with cars, even though I am old enough to have out grown it.  :laughing7: Hope you will find this site very useful, I love that it is dedicated to the 65GS and the information is specific to the car I love.

Thanks Jay

Jay,

There are a few of us in MN. Loren guided me on my 65 project for years, and also got his hands dirty at my place a few times. He used to show his car locally, and there are one or two others that show up occasionally. Rob Keena is also in the Twin Cities and he is doing a 65 4 speed convert.
The show is July 27-July 31. I'm planning to head down the 28th or 29th.

Hello jay.  Good to see more Minnesotans,

I will definitely be at the Buick show at the fairgrounds in May but it would be optimistic for me to think that my car will come with me.   I probably wont be done until June or so butit could be close.  I was there last year (also without my car).  I did not see any 65's there last year.  Did I miss yours?

It would be great to see your car.

Yes Jay, one in the same.
I thought I might get a chance to make it to MN for that one, but work is getting a little busy and we are going to be short a couple of people for the next two months.
Looking forward to Ames though.
