Gary,

That's a Fremont tag.
If thats an "H" it's Seafoam Green, "A" would be a Black top.

158 Trim code - is it a GS?

Wow!
I thought that but couldn't believe it.
I'm puzzled as to how that two tone was arranged.
Car is red now but my favorite two colors together are black and green.

The Skylarks had the "halo" top trim. The car would be green, and black inside the halo trim.
Buckets were an option on the Skylarks. Parted out a 4 speed, bucket seat Skylark 6 or 7 years ago.
That was a Verde Green, Black car.

Example of a Seafoam green car (Re: Decoding a firewall tag please.)

Dear Gary, Mark, Dan, and mid-60s Buick color coordinators,

Wow!
I thought that but couldn't believe it.

I can't tell you how the car originally looked in Seafoam Green with a black top, but I can show you a photo of another car painted in Seafoam Green.  My wagon was also originally Seafoam Green and when she was repainted in 2011 the body shop was very careful to match the 1965 paint chips.  So here is an example of what that color looks like:

I hope you like if you intend to bring the car back to its original color!

Cheers, Edouard

I am absolutely a fan of seafoam Green.

Unfortunately someone removed the halo trim. Is that a difficult item to find?  Anyone reproduce it?

Paint chips on eBay? (Re: Example of a Seafoam green car)
« Reply #11 on: April 18, 2017, 10:02:19 PM »
Dear Gary, Loren, Jim, and mid-60s Buick color perfectionists,

I am absolutely a fan of seafoam Green.

If you really want to match that color, you might try to keep an eye on eBay for a paint chip sheet of the period.  They do show up from time to time and they aren't very expensive.  Here is an online version of the 1965 exterior color paint chips:

http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipcreate.cgi?year=1965&manuf=GM&model=Buick

Obviously you can't trust the online images but it gives you an idea of what you are looking for.  You'll see that some cross-reference colors are mentioned.  However the body shop that painted my wagon didn't feel comfortable with those cross-reference numbers.  So caution is apparently advised.

Cheers, Edouard

So, Gary, did you buy it?
We're all anxiously awaiting pics!
The green/black combo would make for a nice looking car!
A buddy of mine has a super nice green '65 Lark..... I'll see if I can find a pic of it.

I did buy it. Here is a "teaser" shot.  The interior is what sold me.  I looked at many West Coast cars and  to get a rust-free example, the interiors are usually baked out of them or not correct. I don't have time for a project. I needed a driver and I think the will fit the bill.

I do need a more correct steering column and wheel along with a gas pedal

Gary,

I will have to wait to see your pictures, phot bucket is under maintenance.
Anyways, there should be something on the roof area to mount the Halo trim to.  The factory welded trim mounting studs to the roof. Then there are pieces that are held in place with special clips.  The aluminum trim is then snapped onto the car. Some of the pieces are also attached with trim clips that go through holes and have nuts on the under side. If I recall correctly, it is the rear trim that uses those and also screws.

If you need pictures of what I am talking about, I can send or post them. I have a couple of '65s here.  :overthetop:
