Wing window removal?
« on: April 13, 2017, 11:54:19 AM »
Does anyone have any tips on getting the glass out of the wing window and then pulling the latch shaft off the frame? The one in the car has the shaft shaft broken for the latch and my spare assembly is a little to rusty to want to use. Has any one gotten these rivets out and replace?

The only way I know to do that is removing the vent wind assembly from the door.
Which probably means removing the door glass first, then the vent assy.

There are 2 pieces to the vent wing besides the glass: the vent frame (also the front door glass channel) and the large chrome diecast piece.
There 3 screws holding the vent frame to the chrome piece, 1 at the top run channel weatherstrip, and 2 at the bottom front.
That's how the vent glass comes out. Pretty sure a glass shop can replace the lock mechanism.

Thanks for the advice.

I was able to get the latch out today. A small screwdriver and some heat to loosen up the glass setting tape, the rivets came out fairly easy and the latch came out of the frame.
