Brake drum color ?
« on: February 12, 2017, 06:10:30 PM »
Wondering what color the brake drums should be ?
I see some of them are aluminum , was that some sort of option package ? . The ones I have are cast but don,t know if there suppose to be bare or black .

Brake drums were natural unless the rally wheels were ordered, then they got some black paint so you wouldn't see rusty drums behind the wheel slots.

On my 66 I bought in 1975 they were fluorescent orange, but I think they were bare originally.😀

On my 65 with factory rally wheels the drums were black when it was purchased. I have always repainted them black to match the way they came from the factory.
