st300 transmission

65 and 66 St300.
If I find one with a nailhead pattern for my 65 Skylark, how do I get parts do rebuild it? Is there a special prefix or suffix that go with ST300 that would differentiate it from the ST300 currently bolted to the 300cid BOP pattern engine in my car?

I bought an overhaul kit from a transmission shop here in Lincoln. They also ordered the extra clutch and steel plates that are needed to do the job.
Along with the kit I also purchased new bushings for the pump and tail shaft.
 They recommended replacing the plastic connector that goes into the side of the case for the solenoid switches. Their reasoning was that as the plastic is 50 years old, it tends to leak past the terminals that go through it.

Further more, they had a notebook with service bulletins and updates from which they made copies for me.

All in all, a great shop to deal with.

The ST300 overhaul is in the 1965 Buick Service manual for 43000 and 44000 series models.

Both transmissions are covered in the 1965 Buick Service manual for 45000,46000 and 48000 series models.

Hi,

Also if you want it to shift a little harder (shift kit), I posted a few articles I found online that outline a few passages to open up and how to change shift points.  I just did one mod to a car I have, but have yet to get it going to see if it improves things.
