Automatic Floor shift Boot
« on: September 22, 2016, 05:54:12 PM »
The boot for automatic floor shift on '65 and '66 Gran Sport is available from OPGI.
Part number CH27681. They show it for El Camino and Chevelle '64 -'67 application only.

I have ordered it and compared to an original.  It is an excellent copy and replacement for our Buicks.

Here are some comparison pictures. The reproduction is on the left and the original is on the right.

Loren - I was looking at that awhile back and thought it looked close. Glad you bought one for comparison. Was thinking the only option was a tube cut up and a hose clamp. Thanks.

Dwaine,

I figured that the worse case, I would return it. No need for that though.

I will post pictures of it on a shifter. Need to take apart the interior of our GS and replace the original boot that has a hole in it.

Worth informing OPGI? (Re: Automatic Floor shift Boot)

Dear Loren, Dwaine, and mid-60s Buick parts hounds, . . . . .

Do you think it is a good enough match that OPGI should list it for the 1965 and 66 Gran Sports?  I have a contact at OPGI so I could pass on the suggestion.

Cheers, Edouard

Dear Loren and mid-60s Buick diplomats, . .

To me it is as close to an original as possible.

Okay, I'll pass on the info to my contact at OPGI.  I haven't bugged him in a while, so this is a good excuse!

Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

If it is the same original GM part number then OPGI will definitely go along with it!

Nice detective work guys!
Perhaps it's time for me to replace the inner tube I've been using for a boot for the past 30 years!

Word sent to OPGI. (Re: Automatic Floor shift Boot)

Dear Loren and mid-60s Buick parts hounds,

Okay, I sent an email to my contact at OPGI.  I'll let you know if I get any reply.  However, OPGI can pay poker face and send no reply.  They might quietly update their databases and that would be the only indication.

We'll just have to see!

Cheers, Edouard
