Door weatherstripping
« on: July 25, 2009, 05:16:43 PM »
Has anyone replaced the weatherstripping that runs on the outside of the door and then have issues when shutting the doors?

It appears as though the rubber on the hinge side might be wider than it's supposed to be and it's interferring with the door closing correctly.

I've thought about shaving it down somehow, but it's foam rubber and I figure I'd just end up destroying it (they are expensive!).

I figure that maybe over time, they will get thinner with use but in the meantime I hate how the doors shut.  Maybe heating them up with a heat gun will help speed this along?

Any ideas?

Chris

I don't remember where I got mine years ago but I didn't have any issue with this.

Chris,
I had some mild problem with the door closeing ease after replaceing the weatherstrip on my cars. Time has cured it.

Awesome... I'll breath easier now... Thanks Loren!

Joe, I betcha we used different suppliers and mine might have been a little thicker in that spot than what you got.

I left it sit closed up over the weekend and I'm sure this has squished them down a little bit.

New stereo and alarm goes in next week..
