Head bolts and brackets
« on: July 28, 2016, 04:17:01 PM »
I'm finally making progress on engine assembly, but being careful of identifying what bolts/studs to use when installing the cylinder heads, especially on the passenger side.  On the driver's side, I used three bolts with studs on top (two forward, one at the rear).  On the passenger side, I'm befuddled in part because I'm installing factory A/C where it wasn't before so I don't have a live example or pictures of the correct setup.  And, it's a 2x4 car, so the rear A/C bracket is unique and I'm not sure at this point where it mounts.  Brian has said that the front (?) bolt on the pass. side is not studded, but is longer than the others for mounting the A/C bracket.  I've got the longer bolt and I think the only bolt with a stud on top goes at the rear on this side for the ground strap.  But want to be sure before I assemble it wrong......

Any pictures or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Besides the front head bolt that goes into the A/C bracket, which is 1/4" longer, the only additional studded bolt, a studded bolt goes into the 3rd. bolt back from the front for the rear A/C bracket, besides the rear one for the ground cable,
