Pitman Arm
« on: May 23, 2016, 08:18:50 PM »
Was the pitman arm painted black or was it bare steel?  Time to put the steering linkage together!

Thanks,

Chuck

Bare.  :bootyshake:
Part of it is cast iron, the other part I believe is forged steel, or maybe it's pickling or a heat treat process that gives it that dark color.
Those steel components have a darker look to them...... swaybar, center link, and  upper A-arm shafts are good examples.

Thanks Walt.  My upper A-arm shafts were just cleaned and reassembled.  My replacement center link was painted black and I left it that way.  I also painted my sway bars GM Chassis Black.  Guess I'll leave the Pitman arm in the "as-cleaned" state.
