4059 on a 65 GS?
« on: January 02, 2016, 08:02:57 PM »
The carb on my 401 is an AFB 4059, which all my research says should be for a 1966 California car. All the rest of my drivetrain is four speed 65 GS, this doesn't make sense (unless carb was rebuilt years ago). If it might be original I will have it rebuilt, if not I will have my correct 3922 done. A y ideas?

The 3922S is the correct carburetor for the 4 speed 65 GS. The 4059 carb is for an automatic transmission and would use manifold vacuum instead of ported vacuum which 4 speed cars use. My suggestion is to have Carmen Faso rebuild the 3922. Might be a bit of lead time though.

Thanks Dan. I have plenty of time, no hurry, the 4059 is installed on the engine and the 3922 is sitting on a shelf. I'll call Carmen.
