Looks like it is already higher bids than the asking price

I'll be surprised if it gets another bid.

I have never seen a restored 4spd convertible for sale before.   Mine appraised for a very high number.  If I was the seller I would pull that craigslist ad quick because with 5 days left that auction has a long way to go.  I have received some pretty high offers for my car and my car does not have the power equipment this car has.

What I mean is this one looks like it needs some things like front seats redone, trunk, door panels, consolette refinished, hood ornament, rear emblem, antenna, etc. As we all know, it can all add up. When I see these things on a "restored" car it always makes me wonder about things I can't see like wiring, etc. I do like it though!

But look at the bid history.... there are only 2 bids over $3500, and they're from the same bidder! Most likely just wanted to see what the reserve was. I hope he's serious about buying it.
Neat car, hope the sale goes well.

Read the auction details several times and never saw any mention of whether it has the original engine. Sent a question through eBay asking if the engine was numbers matching and his response was 'Never looked into it, sorry'.
Certainly is a rare car with those options but the auction presentation leaves a bit to be desired. Maybe he's not really a car person and just lost interest in the restoration.

I just texted the seller.  Looks like it is a non VIN number matching motor.  And the engine code is 'LT'.

Was there a picture of the cowl tag anywhere?

Nope, but 1965special saw a picture of it. However, it is a Fremont built car so the cowl tag won't disclose much.

It was bid to that amount in about 2 seconds.....probably just what he wants for it. It was a repainted car,not a restored car. I would think it is a fair price if a guy wants one. It looks to be a pretty clean start on a restoration. Better pics and info would have helped if the seller wanted top dollar. What is with the color of the console?

Console color is bare metal. The consolettes are just pot metal that is chrome plated then painted on the top. Looks to me like the seller just stripped the paint off it. Easy fix.

Oops!!!!  Looks like the high bidder withdrew.  The bid is now at $3,650 with the reserve not met.  That sure looked fishy to me......

Chuck, that guys original bid was $20,000 and he didn't withdraw it. Think that is still his bid and it is below the reserve.

Check the Protect-o-plate. Seller says he bought the car in CA and shipped to Cape Cod. POP says Hyannis, MA for original owner.

Still a nice car though.

Hi Dan,

I saw the bids recorded yesterday and it appeared this bidder went to $20,000, then up to $23,500.  I don't understand how it got back down to $3,650 and now $4,350 today.  I've never seen a strategy of reverse bidding  :laughing7:

Looks like a nice car.  And it appears most of the engine pictures are from pre-rebuild.  Also interesting that it appears to have a fan shroud for an air conditioned car, but no A/C.

I'm watching this carefully since this car is very close to the way my restoration will end up.

Chuck
