bulb location and bulb number
« on: May 19, 2015, 09:53:58 PM »
Anyone know where to find out what bulb numbers go in all the light socket locations for 65 gs,s ?
I just picked up a bunch of old NOS light bulbs and would like to see if there are any good numbers .
I looked in my factory parts manual but it just gives the Gm number and these are GE bulbs .

John,

I don't remember which, but either the owners manual or the adjustments guide has a page with all the bulb numbers.
Both are the small glovebox size pieces.

The back of the owners manual has a section on lights with the numbers for the bulb and location.

Need to know the correct bulb for a tachometer.
I've looked, but not finding it. Probably have it back in Nebraska, but that doesn't help now.

Dan , thank you for the number on the tack light as I am also going to have to change that bulb. Looks like you have to take the council out to change it.

I was just working on the manual trans tach, but I am thinking yours is even more effort to get into. Maybe have to take out mounting screws and just lift it high enough to reach in there. It just pops in the hole so it might be something you can get out without taking it all apart. Manual trans has two nuts up top by tach and you walk lid forward towards firewall and it lifts off.  I dont recall automatic console separating so it likely has to be changed from underside.

The long automatic console is a bit more work. There are two screws in the bottom of the storage box and two screws under the shifter PRNDL cover. To get at the screws under the PRNDL, remove the shift knob, push in on the retaining button at the back end of the gear selector area to get the PRNDL piece to pivot up from the rear. Once it is out of the way, you can see the screws. Remove them and the console can be lifted to gain access to the bulb.
