I love the concept. One question; where did the hole in the lens go for the clock stem? Did the Chevelle tach come with a new lens. Anyway, I'm thinking volt gauge. I have the factory console tach. Any thoughts or suggestions on a volt gauge.

Thanks, Jerry.

The hole is there but you need to look close. I used a black plug.

Not real sure I purchased the correct tach, no way you can remove it from the housing.  The supplied wiring will not go through the hole.  Any help or pictures would be great.  I did go to the Shiftworks web site, I purchased the clock listed for a 71 Chevelle.

Thanks, Tom

Some drilling, cutting and soldering is required. Pretty sure Loren could do that for you if you aren't up to electrical stuff. Remember how nice the sequential tail light harness is.

That black plug is present (or obtained) in a non-clock dash.

Kevin, will you please do me a favor?  Interested in the vertical and horizontal dimensions on the original '65 Buick clock face.

Thanks in advance!
Steve.

Completed the tach conversion today, it was pretty straight forward.  Did have to cut the wires to separate the tach from the housing.  Would recommend a real good soldering gun to complete assembly of the harness.  I used a small propane gun, works great along with shrink tubing.  To modify the original clock housing, I used the tach housing as a template.  Placed it upside down on the clock housing and marked the holes to be drilled.  Had to add additional washers to get the spacing just right,  it will all make sense when you start the assembly.   Other suggestions, remove the driver seat and you can get to the clock real easy. Wiring is simple, negative coil, battery, ground.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I should have taken pictures but I did not, sorry.

Dear Tom and mid-60s Buick tinkerers, . . . .

Completed the conversion today, it was pretty straight forward.

. . .

Let me know if you have any questions.  I should have taken pictures but I did not, sorry.

. . . Well shame on you to have not take any pictures! . . . .  :nono:

Still could you perhaps take photos of the completed product?  Even if it looks like Kevin's installation, it would be nice to see your slant on it, and after all, you can never post too many pictures on a forum - no matter that the topic is!  :laughing7:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
