rechroming of used parts ?
« on: March 20, 2015, 03:21:23 PM »
Could use some opinions on getting some pot metal parts rechromed .
When getting pot metal parts rechromed  ( such as tail light assemblies , head light bezels etc. ) how badly pitted can they be , or can they fill the pits  to make them look like new ?

John,
All the parts you mention can be rechromed. Just need to find a plating shop that will do it correctly and not just grind and buff it.

John,
No problem. No foul , no harm.   :headbang:

The last pot metal I had done was a set of tail light bars 25+ years ago. The shop that did them ground them too much.  Wasn't pretty.   :BangHead:
Another shop destroyed a 2X4 air cleaner lid doing the same thing.

I should have elaborated more on it. I guess my point is..... Take the time to find a shop that is willing to do it right and be ready to surrender $$$.
