4 Speed front bearing retainer
« on: February 10, 2015, 06:47:46 PM »
Anyone have there 4 speed out of a 65/6 GS that could measure the front bearing retainer? As you can see in the pictures mine has been repaired. I was looking for a new one, and a trans guy said he had one but it is shorter. He thought someone had made mine longer or mine was of a Ford. The overall length of mine is 3 3/4" and the number is T10A-6A. If I had not taken my retainer along I would have bought one more part that does not fit. Thanks Bill.

Hot off the press....I taped up this trans to keep the dirt out,but you can see it is about 2 3/4 where the finished part of the shaft ends. I put a slice in the tape at the end of it. The part would be about 3 inches total height,Dan

Dan, thanks for the reply and pictures. If I measure my retainer in the same way, it is the same length, and yours appears to have the same number on it. Looks like mine is the correct one. Know I need to find one. Thanks Bill.

Does anybody know if it has to be a cast iron case to be the correct part. Seems like a lot of BORG WARNER trans would use the same piece. There are a ton of parts out there for aluminum t-10's,Dan

The number on it is the part number, so just find one that has the same number on it as yours.  Not sure about what came on the aluminum Chevy T10s.  It is definitely different than the one that came on the Ford T10s.

Hey Bill , I took a picture of the retainer and wrote down the part number of your retainer and will look to see if I have one . I have a quite a few tranys around plus I'm heading out to a swap meet this week end , so I'll, keep an eye out for one .
If I find one I'll let you know and I can ship it to you . ( I buy quite a few tranys just for parts )
