Polishing vinyl top trim

Hello Guys. First of all we are dealing witha 2dr ht. Does anyone know if the vinyl top trim and the wide mouldings on the outside of the door at the window and at the back window is made of stainless or anodized aluminum. It`s not magnetic and I am assuming it`s aluminum but I don`t know for sure. I am going to be removing it to have some work done and I wonder if anyone can steer me the right direction on how to polish it. It`s in Decent shape however since it`s off I`ds like to improve the shine as it`s a bit on the dull side.
Thanks, John

Hi John,
Those pieces are anodized aluminum. Pretty straightforward to polish them, but there is no corrosion resistance once the anodizing is gone. To get them to look like the way GM intended, have them
re-anodized.

Mark,
What would the cost be to re-anodize ? Know of someone who does it ? Finally, couldn't they be polished and clear coated if the car is not meant to be a show car ?

Dan,
I don't recall the cost. Anodizing shops seem to be getting harder to find all the time. Mine were done by Butch's in WI, but he closed up shop due to health issues. I would think polish & clear coat would be perfectly fine.

Aluminum can be clear coated. We do it with parts we make for aircraft. Just a FYI.
