'65 Gran Sport Upper Console Boot-Any Interest?
« on: October 26, 2011, 10:27:43 PM »
I am considering reproducing the '65 GS 4 Speed Upper Consolette Boot.
Does anyone else have them CORRECT?
Is anyone interested?

I'm interested! :blob7:
If I'm not mistaken, the present ones avail are for the later rectangular shifter handle.

A correct non-console boot would be nice too. Jimmy said he was going to make some, but that was quite some time ago. :icon_scratch:

I am defintely interested in one.  Made out of the correct material would be nice too--the ones on the market now are slick, shiny, vinyl looking instead of rubber like the originals.

I realize this is a really old thread, but just getting caught up on status.  Seeing the lack of responses, I assume this didn't go anywhere?

I need one!  Get in line, right?  :laughing7:

I’ve emailed Metro to see if they can make their 67-72 upper consolette boot (for flat shifter handles) in a round shifter handle version correct for 65 and 66 (and hopefully not shiny). No promises - keep you posted on what they say.

Got a response from Mike H. at Metro. They would be possibly interested, depending on demand. Here's the info we need to keep this potential project alive:

(1) Does this part fit any other year/make/model? Or it is just '65/'66 3/4 speed Skylarks & GS's with the consolette? What is the group and part number?

(2) Does anyone out there have an original to be used for the mold?

Any help on the above questions is much appreciated.  Thanks!

Dan,
It also fits the 67 4-speed models with console since they still used the round shifter handle.

Dan,

I don't have one, but if someone has an original, it might help to know if they would get it returned intact or if it would be destroyed in the molding process.  Any idea?

Brian - noted.  Thank you.

Chuck - I will ask.  Thank you.

I really need clarity on the group and part number.

4.015 / 384431 is the LOWER boot, right?

1361008 is the upper consolette boot for 68-72, correct?

What is the group and part # of the part we are trying to have made?

Some info here: http://65gs.com/board/index.php/topic,3075.msg21218.html

Thanks!

Dan,

Think you already have it. Grp 4.015 Part # 1361008, Seal Consolette Gearshift

Part # 1361012 is the Retainer, Hr. Shift Seal-Lower

That's what my 1965 parts book, effective May 1965 has.

Hi Dan:

I've got different numbers! LOL

Is there a consensus on the following (Group 4.015) part numbers? My guesses are below

384431 = boot for round shifter lever NO console
3842926 = a Chevelle part number for lower console boot for cars WITH consolette???
1361008 = upper consolette boot for 68-72 with FLAT shifter handle AND console (i.e. the current and only repro) - so what about the 65-67 with round shifter and console?

I'm so confused haha

Dan,

My source for the boot part number is a parts book dated May 1965. But am also confused. Why do we need part numbers ? We know what the part looks like.
