65 GS Decklid badge

Can anyone post a pic of the GS badge? Apparently the trunk I have is from a Skylark. Would like to see a good pic of the badge.

Thanks Chris, perfect shots....now I know exactly what I need, and thanks for letting me know about this board...
I also have a few sets of the "windows" that go on the front fenders of 65s and I think 64s. they are in good shape and am planning on just letting someone in the group get them for the price of postage. I'll follow with more info later. Thanks again.

Hey Len,

No problem.. welcome to the club, I hope we see you around here often and please pass on the word.

When you are talking about the fender windows, are you talking about the vents like what is shown in the picture I'm attaching?

If so, can you put me in line for two sets and I'll gladly pay you more than postage.

I think Joe is looking for a set also... Joe?

Thanks,

Chris

I picked up two repos for the side of the car and it looks to be the same as the deck lid...Gonna order one more. The reproductions are very nice.

The decklid Gran Sport logo is different.  The position of the Skylark logo is the same, you just have to mark and drill one additional hole.  The problem is finding the metal keepers that attach the logo.  Other options would be to glue or bond it to the lid. The repro stuff is okay, they just use a softer metal than the original.

I believe the repos are made by Gorden Melo in New England. He has a bad rep for following up on deals for used parts, but if you go thru another vendor for his repos, you should be okay.
I met him years ago at the NE Nats at Cecil County , Md. He had a super-nice red 65.

Do the repo emblems look identical to the originals? Sometimes repos actually look better...

I agree, the repos look great.  It just seems that the metal was softer and that you had to be careful when installing.  If I had the talent, I would have repainted my originals.

Last year we gave my white convertible a new coat of paint and I decided to go with all new emblems..... no regrets as they really stand out and look nice.

You are correct about the parts being softer as I accidentally bent one and cracked the paint in the middle of the part.

I don't know what they are made of, but the material is almost like a tin or lead in softness so be very careful with them.

They seem to be holding up well and I used a little bit of 3M adhesive to install the ones without retainers since I figure next time they are removed they'll be destroyed anyhow.

This " quote" out of OPGI catalog on 65 Gran Sport Logos

NOTE: Because this product is a "jewel cast" reproduction, (a softer metal), it is more pliable than original zinc. We recommend that you handle it with care upon installation.

I got the repos from some guy who sells various repos for different vehicles. They are extremely nice. I think I paid two bucks more each then another place but they a probably manufactured by the same individual/company.  The ones I have seem to be plenty strong but of course I've not tried to install them yet. So so much for all the great advice I received already from this fine board.
