Projects & Restorations / Re: 65 GS Post Coupe Restoration (The completion)
« Last post by option B9 on March 25, 2024, 07:49:02 PM »
Hi everyone, Here in NYC it's still very cold, but the warm weather should be here very soon and I'm all ready to get started on the Red coupe. The very good used rims have been cleaned, polished and painted the correct grey. Five New 15inch Cooper Cobra radials 215/70R15 front. 255/60R15 rear and a 215/70R15 for the spare are all ready to be mounted & balanced. Last week I received 4 new wheel centers with locks from BCA member Mitch Romanowski. Once the wheels are mounted on the GS I can Install the restored steering wheel . Then it goes to the shop for a wheel alignment & NYS inspection sticker. Once it's roadworthy I can bring it in for a new headliner. The BCA National Meet is in July, but I may not have enough time to correct the damaged to the paint that the body shop caused !  Touching-up the paint is not something I would want to rush in to anyway. I will update as work progresses.

Try this link for their homepage:

Check their 'Camaro' page for seat foams and springs (?)! I don't see much else for our Buicks?
Sale is from March 25 to April 15, 15% off.

I recently purchased a pair of seat foams for my '66 (different than '65) from Thornton Reproductions.
These are supposedly made by the oem supplier. They're not 'extra firm' like the PUI foams, and less expensive than the ACI foams which are often recommended. I'm happy with the Thornton foams and would certainly recommend them for 66-7 seats.

It is probably as hard to find as a Skylark in that condition,if not harder. I know I run across a lot of mis-identified parts and often it is just an honest mistake.  That?s a good deal on the used ornament from Buickrodder?definitely in nice shape. I am in the process of acquiring another Buick and some parts so I will likely have few boxes of extras to go through.

I contacted the seller and informed him that the hood ornament is not for a Skylark. He removed the listing.
I have done some research/ looking through eBay listings and a post on the BCA forum. I am fairly certain that the ornament is for a '65 Electra.
Seems it either rains certain items or there is a drought. LOL

Lots of Love! Next up was a not pleasant job scraping and removing the undercoating from the rear wheel housings and the fiber board from the inside roof! Had to use a heat gun, benzomatic, and very stiff putty knife scrapers! What a bunch of nasty crap!

General Discussion / More eye-candy. (Re: Gorgeous woody teardrop trailer)

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who at least enjoy day-dreaming about road-tripping,

This is of course completely off-topic, but there is a 1958 woody teardrop trailer on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/186360923011

Here is one of the photos from the ad:

According to the seller, the trailer was fully restored about 15 years ago at a cost of around $30,000!

Like all teardrop trailers, it isn't very practical.  However, it is definitely an example of beautiful wood workmanship!

Enjoy the eye-candy!

Looks like a correct piece for a 65 Skylark. And in relatively good shape!

Dear mid-60s Buick parts-hounds,

Can you believe it?  Now the folks at Centerville garage have put yet another Buick A-body hood ornament on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/134990683458

It is used but in very good condition.  At least to my eye it looks a smidge "off," but it could simply be an issue of the photography.
