Title: Longest Buick
Post by: Chris on January 13, 2009, 10:06:53 PM
Ok. I don't know the answer to this but I'm really curious.

What was the biggest Buick built in the 60's - 70's (length)?

What production car from the Big Three holds the title?

 ???

Rumor has it the Electra 225 was so named because it was 225 inches long. I looked up the 66 specs....it's 223.4".  I wonder if bumper guards were optional?

I had a 71 225 hardtop, Black with white vinyl top and tan interior.
Thankfully I was a quartermaster in the Navy. I had LOTS of experiance steering a 400 ft Destroyer, it really helped with the Electra.
And that black, by the time you waxed the hood ,the rear was ready to do again.
But what a ride! ;D ;D

My cousin has a 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V convertible.  At 227.2" long, it is said to be the longest production model produced in the USA.

Copy and paste from the goggle.

The longest passenger car ever built not a limo or custom job, that I could find, was the 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Seventy-Five.

It has a total length of 21 feet or 252”. General Motors manufactured it and was classed as a full-size luxury car. There were two versions: the Nine Passenger Sedan, and the Limousine, which had a glass divider.

So there you have the long and short of it, at least the long of it. Some of the longest cars of the era, with styling, grace, power, and comfort in spades. Those were the days.
