Title: Very cool, seven sets of 2x4's
Post by: kcombs on April 26, 2011, 03:59:11 PM
Check it out:

I am amazed anyone could accumulate that many sets of 2x4's in one collection.

Wow!!! This guy has some very nice dual quad set ups. Those aircleaners look very nice, perhaps they have been rechromed. If you go to his Ebay store you will see that he has three dual quad set ups. Just a note to those with '65 or '66 GSs, this set up has the correct rear (primary) carburetor # 3925 for '65 and '66.

The other two have a #3646 rear carb which is correct for '63 and '64. The primary difference between the two carbs is the throttle rods has different attaching points for the transmission kickdown switch. The '65 and '66 have a post, which can be seen with the clip that slips over that post, like a single four barrel carb.  Whereas the '63 and '64 have a little roller wheel that activates the older style kickdown switch. This roller cam can be seen easily in the third photo on this particular set up.

It appears as though the set up in the first post has that part of the throttle rod cut off. No big deal if you have a 4-speed transmission or don't need passing gear.

John, the California air cleaner has definitely been rechromed.

Can anyone tell me if that is a 'correct' CA air cleaner ?

Gorgeous stuff but a bit pricey.

I wonder how many of them have the correct number rear carb for a '65-'66 with a 4-speed?  Never seen one of those myself.  The manual trans 2-4's cars came with a different rear carb number, although the one for an automatic will work fine on a 4-speed car.

Brian,

Whats the number of a 4 speed rear carb?
Dan, the California air cleaner he has looks just like the one I'm getting.

Ted, very nice set. Looks like some of Carmen's handiwork.

Mark, nice score on the air cleaner. Your chrome guy will have it looking like new.

Ted,

I suspected that it would go on one of your Wildcats. You just might have to buy the set on Ebay so that your Skylark GS won't get jealous. Who restored your carbs, very nice work indeed. Your primary carb must be a real rare item. How many 4-speed Wildcats did they make in 1965.
