The door panels are not interchangeable between a hardtop and a sedan, or post car.

The sedan, or post car, door panels are similar to the GTO panels in that they are just flat. Plus, the post itself gets in the way. The hardtop has a quarter round metal piece behind the vinyl at the top that hangs over the top of the door and 'locks' in the window channel.
Others on this forum have attempted the conversion. A few succeeded but the results were not pretty.

The post door panel top looks like a 66/7 style. Could you use the backer board for 66/7 and put the 65 trim and covering on them?

At that point, you could just use a new board cut to the correct size and shape. Those are available through an upholstery wholesaler.

I think the most difficult part would be removing the vinyl and Dacron from the original board without destroying it.
