Title: Exhaust manifolds
Post by: vinnie on March 08, 2015, 11:02:20 AM
Getting ready to remove the headers from my car and replace them with the factory manifolds. My questions is, there is a tube port on the outside of the right manifold that is for the heat tube for the choke, but there is also a tube port on the inside of the right manifold. What's that for?

Thanks for the help.

Vinnie, what are you going to do with the headers?

Mark, Thanks for the pictures. I am correct that the back tube goes to the vacuum advance on the distributor. The heater hose on your picture was blocking the view. Where can you get the clip?

Jim, I more then likely will put them up for sale. Will sell the headers and exhaust pipes as a package. The headers were on the car when I bought it. I believe they are the GSCA headers that they was selling some time ago. They were chromed not jet coated. Showing there age. I will post they when I am ready to sell.

Glen, the back tube doesn't go to the distributor, it connects to the black rubber hose that goes up the the top of the carb. It's purpose is to supply filtered air to the heat tube in the exhaust manifold that then goes to the choke coil on the carb.
If you need the steel line, just buy some brake line tubing and bend to fit. The carb fitting can be found in the plumbing supply at your local hardware store.

Walt, I looked at the picture again and see what you are talking about. Now the fact that I am running the factory 2x4 setup with an electric choke mean I can block off the back tube. I was planning on running the choke heat tube for looks only. Should work.
