Hi Guys
I just wanted to send out a general invitation for a BBQ get together on Saturday May 2nd at my shop in Maple Plain Minnesota. I know a lot of us will be heading to the "Spring Extravaganza" on Sunday May 3rd so this is a good pre-party. Last year we had a bunch of 65GS experts at this party and the info and tips flowed freely. Plus we just had a lot of fun. It would be great to meet some new folks, so if anyone is anywhere near the Twin Cities that weekend be sure to come. I will supply the food. Please let me know if you think you might make it (so we can plan properly) and feel free to bring anything you want to share. If you do plan to bring something please let me know so I don't double up. If you have a buddy who is not on this site and you want to bring them along please feel free.
The shop is 15 minutes west of Minneapolis on West Main Street in Maple Plain. I will send out directions as we get closer. Hopefully this inspires a few folks to drive up. Looking forward to seeing some new faces.

Jim, really glad to hear you will be there. We did not have any wives last year at the BBQ but I don't want to exclude anyone. Should point out the conversation has been cars cars cars. Of course plenty of wives at the state fair show and the BCA events in the past and that has been great.

Sounds like this is going to be a good party. I am going to try track down jay Roberts. It would be great if he was there also. I will have all the basics. I am picking up the meat, bbq sauce, and chips this week so we wont need any of that. I plan on chicken and pork. My wife will make potato salad. John Evenson said he is bringing beans. I will also have beer and soda. I will plan on prepping for the head count +3-4 so any additional friends can come.
Mark, thanks for adding me to the head count. I meant to mention that I plan on coming also.
The Buick show on Sunday at the Minnesota State fairgrounds is a good time with a decent swap meet. Hopefully we will have some last minute additions to our party.

Thought I'd throw this in; there is construction on 494 heading north/northwest from about 62 on up to 94/694. There will be some interchange closures on the 394 junction, so a route other than 494 might work best.

Last night, I bought the replacement for the GS that Dan now has and will be picking it up next Saturday. Further details to follow, but here's a couple of teasers. It's a local, very low mileage, manual trans convertible in a rare color combination. :headbang:

Just talked to Keith A. from last years get together and he wants me to pick him up on my way over again.
He was checking up yesterday on work being done on his 65 convertible but it looks like it has a ways to go yet.
Keith also mentioned the cousin Roger and Lloyd Flint of Minnesota and North Star Dragways fame wanted me to send them time and location information on our get together.
So please add Keith and possibly a few more to the list.

Not going to be able to make it this year ! have to work, been working many Fridays since November of last year!

Well, I I'll still be there but won't be bringing a Buick. Not sure what happened yet an no time to even look but the car died tonight. I was able to get it home coasting. Now will not start, I had some friends help me push it into the shed. Probably nothing serious, but very bad timing for it to break.

Great to see my friends and meet some new 65 enthusiasts too. Attendees traveled from Mankato, MN, Green Bay, Kansas City, Firth, NE and Omaha. A great turnout! The weather cooperated this year with sunshine and warm temps for the Sat. get together and the show Sunday. I didn't get any pictures this year, so you guys that took them please post!

I concur, always nice to put the names to faces. I also like it here to be able to address someone by name in a reply. It just feels more friendly, maybe that's just me.

Hi all
Sorry Keith Anderson and I got to the get together so late.
We were still putting the Extravaganza Car Show and Swap Meet together at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds for Sunday.
There was still plenty of great food available when we rolled in but I'm sure we missed meeting a few of the new people to join our 3rd annul.
We were so busy talking I never did hear a final list of the new entries. Do we know? Do we have additional pictures to add names to faces?
A big thanks goes out to Rob for once again holding this local get together of 65GS.com. He has a great location and provides superb hospitality.

I also want to thank all the people that stopped over on Sunday for the "Gopher State Buick Extravaganza" held at the Minnesota State Fair each year.
This event is the first major outdoor car show and swap meet in this part of the country and everyone showed up yesterday with great weather.
As you can see from the pictures Rob had his car up on stands busily getting things ready for the BCA Nationals and 50th Anniversary in Springfield Missouri in June.
From what I heard Saturday night it sounds like everyone else is busy doing the same thing including myself.
Springfield should be really great with or without a car.
Get your reservations in soon if you think you can make it.
Their are several good hotels in the area besides the host hotel so take your choice.
Their has been quite a bit of work put into making the "65GS 50th Anniversary" special at this event.
If you haven't seen the May copy of the BCA Monthly Newsletter "Buick Bugle" get your hands on one.
No less then 14 color pages of pictures and commentary put together by members of 65GS.com.
Cars featured included John Egel (NUT465GS), Mark Ascher (MarkAscher) and Dan Ankeney (DSAGS) including a cover shot of Dan's Engine Bay.
Dan Ankeney's car will also be a feature car displayed inside for the "65GS 50th Anniversary" in Springfield.
Once again thanks to everyone for a great weekend and many more to come.

Speaking of Jay Robertson what kind of mean machine was that he left in?
I heard he had to wait a year to get it.

I didn't catch the mystery guest's name. He is a friend of Jay's.
The mean machine is a 700 hp Dodge Hellcat. Jay took delivery of it on May 1st. Sweet machine.
And yes, he had to wait a year from when he ordered it to taking delivery.
