Title: Sun Visors
Post by: cwmcobra on February 03, 2015, 08:36:09 PM
What color should the sun visors be in this convertible?  White seats and door panels, black dash and carpet.  I need to find some and I'm not sure what color to look for.

Thanks!

Chuck

Same white as the interior. Get them from Legendary and that should help you determine how 'dirty' the rest of the interior is. The 65 GS white interior is an off white. In one of your pictures it appears that the dash is gray, not black. White interior should have a gray dash and an even darker gray dashpad.

Interior looks very nice to me.

Chuck,

The dash, dash pad and carpet should be grey, for a white interior.

WELL.. I am reading some conflicting info here... Dan, WHITE is definitely WHITE in my ALL original 65 GS as shown and matches the WHITE painted top.. .. . and not OFF white...

just say'n..

WELL .. I don't see where you are reading this conflicting info ... No one else has mentioned anything about the shade of white in this post but you ... Chuck's car has a Legendary interior and the ONLY white they sell for a 65 Gran Sport is an OFF white ... If he wants sun visors to match his interior he will have to get the Legendary OFF white.

BTW ... nice 3 spoke steering wheel you have in your ALL original GS

just say'n

gee Dan.. I am kinda NEW around here but you did post "The 65 GS white interior is an off white". I was merely stating the interior on my original 65 is brite white...  Now I see that you clarified that Lengendary Interiors for 65 GS were off white.  OK, I get it now.  My bad.

...and ya, my car is an original 53,000 mile, matching numbers, original, lacquer paint survivor WITH THE EXCEPTION OF the sport wheel.  There.  Feel better now do ya?

ok not to stir things up.  But I think my interior came for Legendary it is White,  not off white.  and it matched my original door panels.  I know there is a lot of different whites out there. I ordered some bulk white from them and it is more off white than the Buick white.  talked to them and they said it was coded for cutlass. They also told me they didn't have or couldn't get the same white, in bulk, to match my seats.  legendary calls it Frost White.

Another option to get the sun visors to match the rest of the interior is to dye/paint them.
Any decent paint shop can adjust the color to match.

Legendary can send you samples of their materials, just ask them.

SEM has a color chart for matching nearly any interior vinyl, and their product holds up very well. I have not been real impressed with any interior "factory colors" . Legendary seems to be the best out there, but I think dsags is right in saying the factory white is not that bright. I have some untouched original pieces and they look white until you put them next to the refrigerator. I would compare them to the "parchment" color in the early 70's malibu. I just received some white covers for a 73 trans am we are working on,they are too non-white,so it goes both ways.

When I looked in the Legendary catalog it seems the sun visors they sell are labeled "white". No indication of of whether its Frost White or not. As Walt said they gladly send you samples so a call might be in order.
