Bob,
Here's a previous thread on the subject. Mark found the part numbers and I looked up the specs:

Well Walt my springs measure 15.937 and 16.125 free length with a .672 wire diameter. Wondering if I can clean them up and reuse them. How would you check to see if they are weak.

I don't know of an easy way to check them. I would think worn or fatigued springs would be a shorter free length than they were originally, but yours are longer. Do you know if they were ever replaced? My original '66 springs had a number stamped on the end coil. The number was diameter and rate.

Doesn't look like they were ever changed but you never know. I'll clean them up and see if I can find a number. Thanks

Cleaned end coil on springs and found a number. 758 or 8 could be B 435 so 758435 or 75B435. These ring a bell with anyone. Is this the right number for 65 gs springs?

The stamped number on my '66 GS springs (different specs for '66) was 654B380.
That translates to 0.654" wire diameter and rate of 380 lbs/inch.

If your stamp is actually 675B435, that would be 0.675" wire diameter with rate of 435 lbs/inch
The specs I found for the 65 GS were 0.669" dia with rate of 420 lbs/inch...... that's real close to what you have, they could be original.
I don't know of anyone else here that found the stamping on their original springs.

You're right Walt on further cleaning there is a 6 there just a space from the 7. One other question why is the left longer than the right?
